SkillsUSA: Working to Ensure America Has a Skilled Workforce

What do welding, commercial baking, CPR, prepared speech, carpentry, technical math and auto mechanics have in common? They’re just a few of the 90 different areas of competition that Nebraska students participate in at the SkillsUSA State Championship. Why should you care? These kids are an important part of our nation’s future; the leaders and skilled workers that our country – and our state – so desperately need.

SkillsUSA, a national organization with 13,000 school chapters just might have the solution to ensure our nation’s graduates have the know-how, drive and communication skills to be great skilled workers. Combine technical skills with leadership opportunities, community involvement and a dose of healthy competition, and you’ve got a recipe for success.
